productdesign & installation, in cooperation with Paula Fiegl & Petra Wieser, 2025

Crocheted doilies, lace, and delicate runners–once made with care, now often forgotten in attics, and the skills to make them mostly lost. The installation conserve takes up these textile relics of our foremothers–not out of nostalgia, but to bring them into a new context and honour the patience and dedication of the women who created them. Salt crystals grow over these fragile fabrics, symbolically preserving the craft. In this way, the careful work–often dismissed as simple “domestic craft”–is recognised and given new value.

The work sees impermanence not as loss, but as transformation. It honours quiet knowledge that reflects care and attention. conserve is a material reflection on aging that stages these handcrafted textiles in a new context as a contemporary chandelier.

The project was featured in the exhibition FOKUS: Ageing at Vienna Design Week 2025.
